Commercial Car Insurance FAQs

Qikio Commercial Car Insurance is administered by Mercurien Insurance Pty Ltd and is underwritten by Assestinsure Pty Ltd.

Commercial Car Insurance is a form of coverage tailored to the needs of vehicles utilised for business purposes. It generally offers a more comprehensive cover compared to typical personal car insurance policies.
Commercial Car Insurance might suit your business if you engage in any of the following activities:

  • Fleet Coverage: Managing multiple vehicles used by both employees and yourself under a single policy can streamline your coverage and often result in cost savings.
  • Meeting Clients: If your business involves travel to customers or clients for service delivery, like a mobile gardener, cleaner, dog groomer, tradesperson, mobile makeup artist, or hairdresser, having commercial vehicle insurance is imperative.
  • Transporting Goods: Whether you’re delivering products, materials, or business equipment, such as a florist delivering blooms to customers or a retailer transporting stock to their store, commercial vehicle insurance is essential. However, it’s worth noting that rapid delivery services like pizza delivery or courier work might require a different kind of coverage.
  • Valuable Cargo: If you carry expensive tools, products, or equipment in your vehicle, these items should also be covered by insurance.
  • Diverse Vehicle Types: Commercial vehicle insurance is versatile and can be applied to a range of vehicles, including passenger cars (such as sedans, utes, and 4WDs) and larger commercial vehicles like trucks, trailers, and earth-moving equipment.

There are many factors that contribute towards the cost of your vehicle insurance. These include:

  • the sum(s) insured
  • how the vehicle is used
  • your claims history
  • your driving history
  • the excess you choose

The total Premium also includes amounts payable in respect of government taxes and charges such as Stamp Duty (SD) and Goods and Services Tax (GST).

Your excess is the amount you pay toward the cost of your claim for each incident covered by your policy. Your excess is shown on your certificate of insurance and applies to all claims unless your policy states otherwise.
Other Excesses, as stated in any of Your Policy documents, which may apply are:

  • Age and Inexperienced Driver Excess;
  • Imposed Excess;
  • Telematics Excess;
  • Tipping Excess; and/or
  • Windscreen Excess.

At time of renewal you will be sent a link to the email you have provided to review your policy online and make any alterations where necessary. We will ask you to provide payment details as part of the renewal.

The PDS provided when you took out your policy (together with any amendments, updates or endorsements that We give You in writing which may vary it when required or permitted by law) will also apply for any offer of renewal made, unless Mercurien tell you otherwise or issue you with a new and updated PDS.

The Commercial Motor and Motor Fleet Insurance Policy provides the following cover:

a) for loss or damage to Your Vehicle; and
b) for loss or damage to third party property and bodily injury.

For full details of Your coverage, definitions, extensions, additional benefits, Sum(s) Insured, sub-limits, exclusions and conditions refer to any documentation that makes up your policy, including but not limited to the PDS and your schedule.

You can cancel your policy at any time by notifying Mercurien in writing. Please email Mercurien at support@mercurien.com. Refer to the PDS for details on cancellation and cooling off.
